Meet the Dentists – Austin & Reid Dental Care

Dr. John Austin

Dr. John Austin graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1999. Prior to studying at the School of Dentistry, he also attended University of Michigan where he earned a B.S. with a focus on Biology.  Dr. Austin has been practicing for 26 years. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. Austin has kept up to date by taking many hours of continuing educational classes, with emphasis on braces and Invisalign, cosmetics, root canals, surgeries (including implants and wisdom teeth and advanced restorative and prosthetic dentistry.  Also, Dr. Austin is one of about 200 dentists throughout the world that is a participating contributor to Clinician’s Report. Clinician’s Report is a non-profit organization that works to advance the quality of products and dental care that patients receive. Dr. Austin is an American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association member and a member of the Genesee District Dental Society. These interests and associations help ensure that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care available. He enjoys and is skilled at treating children, which enables him to treat the entire family.

  

Dr. Austin is originally from Gaylord, lives in Clarkston, and is married to Dr. Molly Austin, MD, who has a medical practice on Linden Road in Flint.  He has two daughters, Claire, 25 and Catherine, 23, who you may have seen helping out at the office. In his free-time he enjoys golf, watching and participating in sports, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Ross Reid

Dr. Reid is originally from Lake Orion and has a home in Fenton. After graduating from MSU, he attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry and then practiced in Saginaw for two years before deciding to join our practice in 2014.  Patients love how gentle he is and they always describe him as being relaxed and light-hearted. I am sure you will love him too!  He has been loving performing all aspects of dentistry for the past 15+ years. Dr. Reid stays current with all the latest technology and procedures by taking an abundance of continuing education courses in all disciplines of dentistry including same-day crowns, oral surgery, root canals, and Invisalign.  He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing (poorly 😊), exercising, photography and watching comedy and drama TV when he can.

Dr. Madeline Shank

Dr. Madeline Shank is thrilled to join the team at Austin & Reid Dental Care! Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, she completed her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University (Go Green!) and attended dental school at the University of Michigan. 

Dr. Shank is a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association and prioritizes staying up to date with the latest advances in dentistry. Her bubbly personality and deep understanding of what it feels like to be a patient in the dental chair help her provide the best experience possible. She is committed to working as a team with you, ensuring you have the knowledge and support to make the best decisions for your dental and overall health. 

Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Troy, and her sweet tuxedo cat, Annie. She loves exercising, playing the trombone, reading, and keeping up with her favorite TV shows including Survivor and Big Brother. Catch her cheering on the Spartans and Lions during football season!

Dr. Trina Floyd

Dr. Floyd has practiced dentistry for 30 years in the city of Burton. She loves her career in dentistry and enjoys treating patients of all ages. She attended the University of Michigan-Flint for her undergraduate studies and the U of M for dental school. She and her husband Gregg, grew up in Genesee County and have lived in Flushing for 20 years. They have three adult daughters who live across the United States. They love spending time outdoors and enjoy going camping, bike riding, and taking family vacations together.

 

Dr. Floyd and her husband are very active in their church and frequently volunteer for church events. Most years they travel to Central America on mission trips to perform dentistry for the underserved people of Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Service is a true passion for Dr. Floyd.
